Clifton “Cliff” Adams was an outstanding basketball and football coach at Elgin High School. In twelve seasons (1924-36) his basketball Maroons compiled a record of 175 wins against only 75 losses. They captured four conference championships.  In 1925 they went “all the way” and brought the Illinois State High School Basketball Championship to Elgin. His varsity football teams were 17—17—9 in five seasons (1930—34).
