Gregg Ziegler drove production model cars in Speed Week events at Daytona Beach, Florida, from 1956-1961. With a northbound run of 149.625 mph in 1960, he set a record 144.927 mph average for the Flying Mile NASCAR Championship in a Model 300-F Chrysler, topping the old mark of 139.373 mph set in 1956. Returning in 1961 with a new Model 300-G Chrysler, Ziegler took first place with an average speed of 143.027, which was 10 mph faster than the nearest competitor. His 1960 record still stands.
