Harry was a graduate of Elgin High School in 1905 and is nominated for horse jumping (Equestrian).  After leaving Elgin , he played halfback at West Point, where he had a 92 yard touchdown run against Navy as a junior.  Following graduation from West Point in 1910, he joined the army, where he taught cavalry tactics.  In 1919, Harry represented the United States in the inter-allied games in Paris in the international equestrian competition.  The following year, Harry competed in the 1920 Olympics in the Three Day Event (Military) and in the Prix de Nations (Prize of Nations) for show jumping.  In 1928, Chamberlin was the only US rider to compete on both three-rider teams in the three day event and the show jumping competitions.  As Team Captain and premier team rider in the 1932 US Olympic Games, Harry earned a gold medal as the US team finished first in the Three Day Event competition.  Individually, he earned a silver medal in the show jumping event.  The 1932 team earned five medals, a record that would not be equaled by US Equestrian teams until 1984.  Harry Chamberlin was inducted into the National Show Jumping Hall of Fame in 1990.
